That happy Love day

Our Valentine's Day was simple and sweet. We handmade cards for each other and opened them that morning during breakfast. I was very impressed with Tyson's card making skills because of his detail. He chose a color scheme for each card (Taryn & me) and carried it through it all. Taryn's card to Daddy was inspired by Pinterest. I traced her hands and with the crinkled paper inbetween the card reads "I love you THIIIISSS MUCH! Love Taryn" My card to Tyson was a scrabbled cut up letters that spelled out a message. Tyson figured it out under 1 min. Next time, I'm making it a little harder! There's also a single beautiful rose that sits in an old tea kettle now. It's perfect!

Taryn was dressed for the day of love and Tyson came home from school in the afternoon for our little family date. We chose to treat ourselves to gelato (what else, right?) even though there is still plenty of snow on the ground. Crazy? No, because there were lots of people in La Sorbetria with us too! We took a walk around the city and stopped in a few stores. I had been looking forward to our family date and was so excited to walk about the city with Taryn and Tyson. It was a great sunny day and we were happy to be out and apart of the it all. I saw this recipe and knew it was meant for Tyson to consume. After reading "The Help," all Tyson wanted to eat was fried chicken and all things southern. So this Chicken Pot Pie Casserole was a HUGE hit! I might goes as far as saying that Marie Calendar's has nothing on me :) It's a recipe I will keep using for years to come.

Tyson couldn't help but mention how happy I was on our walk. I was talking non-stop and smiling ear to ear. Taryn was as happy as could be, and Tyson had a little kick in his step. It's so fun to be together as a family. Our Happy Love Day was great!
