The River Farm with Lynne

We enjoyed visiting the River Farm for the first time with our friend Lynne & her son Logan. It was the perfect place for our little ones to explore when Spring was in full bloom and it was still a bit chilly (back in April!)

Everything was their "perfect size" as Taryn would say :)

While Lynne and I chatted and watched the kids explore, Hadleigh came up to us with this little snail shell treasure she had found. She has the best eyes for those little things no one else notices. Like today after some years work I was inside playing with the girls and Hadleigh said, "Bug! Bug!" and right then I felt something tickle my neck. There was an ant crawling on me! Must have fallen from the tree branches I was cutting down.

Fast forward 10 years- she looks just like a teenager here! I can't believe it!

Three little amigos. Hadleigh now calls Logan "Ahh Gak" which cracks me up each time she says it.

Guys, Hadleigh is my mini me. I have yet to find the one picture where I am making the same face, same pose etc… but I know it's there (and it's in our wedding video!!) But I will have to do a side by side once I find it!! It's incredible especially because EVERYONE says Hadleigh looks just like Tyson.

Just a beautiful Spring day!!!

Frying Pan Park - little farm

A few weeks ago we headed far out of Frying Pan Park to experience this little farm for the first time. There really is nothing better than meeting a bunch of friends, eating a picnic lunch together and enjoying some great conversation as your children play nicely together. These kids really knew how to take full advantage of the wide open spaces to play in. I just smiled watching them all play and run around together.

Hadleigh spent her time in this one spot (above) watching a "dow" or cow (it was really a black and white horse!!!!) and saying it's name/sound every few seconds. All the kids ran all around her but she stayed put and watched the "dow"

We decided that there was nothing cuter than these baby pigs!! Taryn asked if we could take one home! And I have to admit, I totally felt bad for the mama pig nursing all those little once. I was in pain for her!

Taryn wants to know everything about anything so I'm answering questions all the time. It's been really interested to see life through her eyes this way. Her innocence is amazing and refreshing. She is oh so kind to others and I learn a lot from her.

This was a spot we chose to picnic. The kids climbed onto the fence to watch the passing cars and trucks. Some nice trucker honked his horn and totally made their' day!

Hadleigh and Taryn both tried feeding these itty bitty baby goats some grass. This little guys were so curious and adorable. But they never wanted the grass offered to them.

These silly girls and their crazy faces! I think Hadleigh is catching on….everytime Mom pulls out her camera or phone, make a crazy face! I'm pretty sure Taryn must have taught her that ;)

Photos from the last little while

Ok this is really from Cherry Blossom week but I love it sooo much I wanted to share it!

Taryn went into helper mode with Hadleigh- wiping her hands & mouth, helping feed her (though Hadleigh is completely capable of doing these things herself) And Haleigh LOVED it. Ha!

Sunday walks with Daddy

Family Picnics on the Potomac

More Sunday walks with Daddy. Apparently Taryn was terrified of a bee that was flying near by but Tyson really wanted to take a picture of those flowers with Taryn. She was super brave and stood still for about 2 seconds! He caught a smile!

Basketball all day long in Nursery!

Hadleigh and I were playing around on the floor and Tyson snapped this picture of Hadleigh's pose! Too cute!

Horse back rides up the stairs is the best way to get the girls to bed these days!

Throwing rock after rock down the man hole to hear them "clunk"

BBQ's at our friend's house! Let the summer yumminess began!!!

And the last shot of one super grumpy girl. Tyson told me she was wouldn't stop crying one night at bed time so he took the girls down stairs (cause Taryn hates being alone) and while they ate a few crackers, Hadleigh just gave Tyson the stink eye the whole time!!!

This week seems like it's flying by and going super slow all at the same time. I thought it was Thursday yesterday! Hadleigh had a nasty viral fever last week, finally breaking and giving her the red rash all over. I think it took a different form in Taryn and me. Stomach bug??!!! Taryn woke up last Thursday at 3am throwing up and I caught it 4 days later. It really was the worst and we're still trying to get back to normal eating. But we're keeping our fingers crossed this weekend we will be all better for the 3 day weekend!

Playing in the petals of Spring!

Taryn and Hadleigh really know how to soak up every bit of Spring (and how to make the funniest faces!)

A Happy Mother's Day! and other moments from the past few weeks

I snapped this picture on Mother's day of Taryn, just before her teacher and classmates arrived for Primary. She cracks me up! And she can also sit so reverently! Look at those crossed legs!

Mother's Day was great! Tyson took the girls for the morning and played with them while I got a few projects done around the house. It was bliss to have so much time to myself, going between project to project. Time. Such a great gift! After we returned from church, Tyson made a yummy breakfast dinner because it happened to be Fast Sunday on Mother's Day (I know!) due to Regional and Stake Conference.

Snapped this picture of our two girly girls before our walk on day. Love those two smiling faces!

We decieded to paint our nails and Taryn wanted hers to be in a pattern. Then she requested that mine be the same! So we've got matching multi colored Mother Daughter Toes!

We drove to preschool one morning and when Taryn jumped out of the car, I asked if I could take a picture of her. She's all about accessorizing now. Cute shoes, cute bow, cute clothes. Somedays she could care less but then there are the days where she wants to be very put together!

Discovering a new park with friends is always a highlight of the week!

After gymnastics Taryn had to go to the bathroom and I changed Hadleigh's diaper. While she waited, Taryn hoped inside the lockers and said, "It's my perfect size!!"

Just playing. What she does best. These days our girls are barefoot and covered in sand (and always a little sweaty too!)

For Cinco de Mayo I just happened to have everything we needed to make Fried Ice cream, my favorite treat to eat when we visit a Mexican restaurant. It was sooo good!

Haldiegh insists on swinging on the big girl swing. She actually does very very well on it too. She won't let go until after saying "Off!" and you stop her. She's growing up WAY TO FAST!

Running into friends at the park is always a double bonus!
(Taryn, Ethan, Audrey, Elliot, and Hadleigh who got cut out of the picture)

No fear, this one!

And finally, we decided to take Taryn ice skating "like Elsa and Anna" because it was $1.00 skate night. She's been dying to go ….and I won't mention the huge meltdown during Christmas time she had when we didn't take her staking at the ice rink we passed by. I'm sorry but $20 per person (yup- even kids!) is ridiculous!! Dollar skate night was exactly what we needed because Taryn hated it. From the moment she stepped on the ice and realized how hard it was to skate, she wanted off. I still don't know how I got her to smile for this shot. Tyson bravely took Taryn around the entire rink and then quickly off the ice where Taryn proclaimed she did not like ice skating (with plenty of tears!)
Maybe we will try in 5 years!
