When my younger sister came to visit

My sister Mackenzie, who is 18 months younger than me, came to Washington D.C. for a quirky visit to see her brother-in-law Richard graduate from Georgetown University. Kinda crazy that at their wedding just a bit ago, we were seated at the table with Richard and found out he lived right down the street from us in Crystal City- like 5 houses down!

Meeting baby Margot for the first time! Hadleigh has mastered her baby cousins name and says it with her head slightly tilted, in the most adorable voice. Such sweetness! I'm glad Hadleigh has cousins close in age to her.

Uncle Ben and Taryn. They are both deep lovers of cats!

We got such an amazing view of the Pandas!!!! We were almost the only ones in the viewing room!

We saw the tigers and lions and loved them the most this trip.

These sillies pull the best faces, and also have the hardest time looking at the camera!!

Sweet cousins! 13 months apart
It was great to see Mackenzie in our neck of the woods and we're so happy they will be moving to North Carolina soon! More Scott girls on the East Coast, please!

Fun pictures from the past few weeks

Trampolines and sprinklers! One of my favorite combinations as a kid!

Enjoying the view of the trampoline/sprinkler fun

She ALMOST fell totally asleep like this

When I'm cooking dinner, the girls are usually in the (interestingly designed) cupboard rearranging my spices

Just a break for play at the park

It's a rare moment where I catch this one sitting still and resting (hair half falling out from when her Aunt Kenzie french braided her hair)

Jumping- there we go- that's more like Taryn :)

Hot and humid days but it's just too fun not to play outside! Good thing Hadleigh LOVES her little pink hat and insists on wearing it. Yay!

She found our church bag and opening the markers. Thankfully, she was the only victim.

Hadleigh thought Tyson's work gloves were the greatest when we were doing yard work

How do you keep your kids from wandering into the street to collect rocks while you are gardening and Tyson is gone? find the biggest worms you can and plop them in the shade and dirt. Give the girls shovels and there you go! Entertainment for hours!

Playdough hearts. Taryn said she made them for me!

I love Watermelon season!!!

Sisterly love

This butterfly entertained the girls for a good 10 minutes. When it landed on Hadleigh's head, it reminded me of Grandma Smith and how she says "If a butterfly crosses you, it's good lucky. "

Playing with friends - Taryn was loves little Madison

When you find a puddle, my first reaction is to stick my head in too.

National Donut day should be every Friday

Hadleigh & Taryn- 2012/2015 and some quotes/phrases they like to say

Taryn 2012

Hadleigh 2015 (With Taryn in the background)

"Are you ever seen a flying squirrel before Mom?"

"Do I sound like Darf Bador?" (making a funny breathing sound)

"Wow Mom! That's enormous!"

Taryn asked Tyson one night at bed time, "Dad, do you sometimes watch movies after I go to sleep?" Tyson said, "Ya, sometimes we do. " Taryn then said, "So you don't go to sleep?!!" Tyson- "Ya, just a bit later though. " It reminded me of that one Full House episode where Michelle is convinced that everyone stays up and parties. The one time she actually stays up, there is a bunny, a clown, candy etc…that come by! Hilarious!

"I did it!"
"Tee Tee, wawh ahwer ooh?" (she calls Taryn, "Tee Tee")
"Atch is" -Watch this
"un moor" one more
"peease!!!!" (While doing a little pouty face and signing "please")
"Hold you?!" (Means- pick me up, Mom!)
"wha see, wha see!" (I want to see!"
"Bahh tee" Blanket

Little Sailor Dresses

Taryn at 17 months

Hadleigh at almost 20 months

I just love seeing this dress make it's appliance again in the girls' closet! Knowing that my sisters wore it, as I did, just makes me treasure this dress so much. It's also made from this miracle fabric that has withstand the test of time! Seriously, how is it that a white dress can still look so darn cute after 20+ years!!??!!!

Memorial Day Fun! 2015

Memorial Day weekend was so fun! We started with brunch at our friends, The Haley's house, which is always the best!!! Lynne is an amazing cook!!! Then off to Clemyjontri with them so Taryn could ride a carousal as her prize for filling her jar with puff balls. We started a new incentive program for Taryn (to discourage whining, encourage listening when Mom & Dad ask once, rewarding doing her chores, doing kind deeds to/for others etc….) Each time she does something good, we add a puff ball to a jar. Once she fills it up, Taryn gets to pick an activity to do. This park , specially designed for children with handicaps, has the best carousal!! The kids really enjoyed running everywhere while us parents tried to spot them in the "maze" that it the park. That thing is so huge and can be a little discomforting on a crowded holiday weekend but the Dads and Moms split up and conquered. We only lost Taryn for a brief second and she didn't even know we had lost sight of her.

So calm and peaceful :) Like a praying mantis.

Logan and Taryn are little adventures for sure! Together, they are unstoppable (in a very good way!)

I love the first expression on Hadleigh. Complete terror. She didn't trust the horses one bit. She never smiled the whole ride and carefully watched as the ride moved. She was more than happy to get off!

Taryn couldn't have been more thrilled. She lives for little things like this!!! Biggest smiles ever from her the whole ride!!!

Then came dinner hours later…. with these crazy little ladies :)

I love them so much. They had Tyson and I laughing the whole time (and even the tables surrounding us! )

On Memorial Day morning, I dropped my sister off at the airport bright and early so the girls were up too. Tyson dressed them in red white and blue and when I got home, they were ready to get some donuts! We got a 1/2 dozen donuts from The Sugar Shack like maple bacon, salted caramel, double chocolate and the girls got sprinkles :) It was soooo good. We ate in the little courtyard and headed off for our next adventures. We spent the rest of the day at the Splash park and at a friends pool. What a great unofficial kickoff to Summer!!!

We stopped by Target to get Taryn a new hat and saw that they had added these fun little carts. Taryn is growing up far too fast! Hello little teenager!!! She picked this hat out and I might be borrowing it a bit this summer :)
