Over the weekend

Saturday morning we headed to the open air market, Mercati della Terra, to see all of the fresh produce, pasta, and bread that the locals love. Every booth here fully embraces the Slow Food movement (look for the snail!) by using fresh, local, and seasonal ingredients.

We loved the hands on station for the kids to practice their pasta making skills. I remember in Culinary school learning how to make the well out of flour and crack the eggs in the center of the well and mixing oh-so-carefully all together to create the perfect dough. I was proud of this little Italian boy!

Bread, cheese, meats, pasta, flowers... everything was sold here! We also ran into a fellow SAIS student with her parents who were visiting from Germany. On our journey we found Parco 11 Septembre 2011. A park dedicated to the September 11, 2001 events in the U.S.A. They held a special ceremony this year there but because of our church time we missed it. We were happy to finally see the park and also take a break for this little one to get her nap in.
I have to say, some of my favorite moments are when she falls asleep in my arms and I get to rock her a bit. Sometimes I just stare at her face and can't believe she's ours forever!
